A reason christs ransom makes no sense to me
by Aussie Oz indo you remember the old jeff bridges film ''the last starman''?.
basic theme was an extra terestrial energy life transmogrified into a human and impregnated a woman with a seed that would become the savior of humanity.. hollywood is an old hand at using good v evil sort of messages that have ideoligical ties to the bible and the 'need' for mankind to be saved from themselves.. what gets me about this particular film is that the savior to come was there for all humanity.
no conditions were placed on how many from what nations could benefit, nor was salvation only for those who 'believed' or were smart enough to read visions or hidden messages etc.

Apostates and the WT magazine...1967 till now
by Aussie Oz inthe subject of apostates seems to be the topic of the day following the release of the latest wt online.
it is quite forceful to say the least i agree.
but, i wondered what has been the attitude going back in time?

'necessary family business'...just what is it?
by Aussie Oz in(prompted in part by the post on the latest wt reinforcing shunning).. say a child has occasional, not regular, contact with a d/f parent.
the child later gets married, is inviting the parent seen as ''necessary family business''?.
if a wedding is not, then what is?.

sigh... children
by Aussie Oz ini know i haven't posted much about my kids here lately.... well, my sone is hell bent on marrying his jw girlfriend by the time he is 19. he doesn't want to think about whether the jws are true or not.
he just sees his goal.
(that is, sex without trouble from the elders that is).

what makes me. A liitle reflection from today
by Aussie Oz inthis has not been a happy day, a stress free day for me as i am sure some of you know.. but it has given me pause to dig inside to see why i fight to be heard.
why i seemed to have played a part in such a mess with a moderator and other members.. going back a number of years in to the wt, one large event occured where i was not able to make my self understood by my accusers.
no matter how hard i tried to get my veiw accross, the harder it became to be understood.

I am out of here
by Aussie Oz inthis place has become far to jw ish for my liking.. free expression and rights to make reply are shut down by those who hold the key.. this forum is turning into an uber christian outreach program with those who take umbridge to them getting locked and deleted threads.
it would perhaps not be so bad if the moderators actually communicated to people such as myself rather than cold cutting.
they complain when we make a public outcry and tell us it belongs in a private message, yet cannot see 'the straw in their own eye' and do not use the private messages to communicate why they have done what they do.

Messiahs, the Apostle paul and the spread of christianity
by Aussie Oz ini have not looked into this deeply other than some pondering so please feel free to enlarge.... remembering that the jewish nation has always been messiah focused and that there were at least 5 messiah claimants in the first century alone, i was wondering what may not have transpired had not saul of tarsus made his spectacular conversion.. it would seem that the messiah claimant jesus of nazareth's immediate circle of 12 followers (apostles) were quite often perplexed at his actions and utterances and possibly also not up to the task of keeping the whole show going once the jews managed to have him executed.. into the picture came saul.
originaly an opponent of this poorly organized pesky 'sect' that was irritating the jewish leaders, he all of a sudden experiences a 'conversion' and within a reasonable time manages to not only coordinate the whole bunch into a movement, but gets to write much of what has become accepted nt bible.
in short, paul is more responsable for 'christianity' than even jesus himself.. kind of reminds me of joseph f rutherford... see a group lacking direction, claim some divine intervention and form it into a powerhouse movement.. if this opportunist saul had not come along and taken over, i wonder if the group around jesus of nazareth would have died out in a few short years just like all the other jewish messiah hopefulls have through history.. oz.
